There are rocking chairs in over 40 airports. It started as a photography exhibit called “Porch Sitting” with rocking chairs as props at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport in 1997. When the exhibit was over, people complained that the chairs were removed.

The chairs are called Kennedy rockers after John F. Kennedy who had these chairs all over including Air Force One, Camp David, and the Oval Office. They are sold by Troutman Chairs in North Carolina.
